“SCARLET SAILS – 2008” ON PALACE SQUARE. GRADUATES HOLIDAY IN SAINT PETERSBURG

On June 21, 2008, a splendid event “Scarlet Sails” (Alye Parusa) took place on Palace Square in St. Petersburg. This was a city holiday for graduates of educational institutions. This large-scale event was held for the fourth time and has already become popular and significant in the city on Neva and the whole country.

More than 30,000 yesterday’s schoolchildren and ordinary citizens gathered in the center of the Northern Capital and along the water area of the Neva, including the Spit of Vasilievsky Island and the Palace Embankment.

A special colorful show with the participation of popular artists and musicians took place on the main stage of the square.

JSA was the main technical contractor for this event for the installation of temporary structures: the main stage complex on Palace Square, auxiliary structures of the towers on Palace Embankment and the big stage near the Exchange building on the arrow of Vasilyevsky Island.

The total length of the structures installed on the Palace Square was about 150 meters. The main stage with a roof span of 30 meters stood in front of the famous arch of the General Staff building. Multi-ton lighting equipment was located under its roof. There were 4 towers 15 meters high on both sides of the stage, between which LED screens were installed to broadcast the concert.

This time the stage was significantly different from the buildings of previous years in its scale and originality of design. JSA, using its large fleet of modular systems from the Layher plant (Germany), including Layher Allround Scaffolding, Layher Cassette Roof, and Layher Event, was able to bring to life the grandiose idea of the artists and directors of this great show. They created the image of the stage, like the image of a huge ship with Scarlet Sails – the symbol of this holiday.

On the Spit of Vasilievsky Island, for the festive program of the event, a separate stage with a Prolyte roof, measuring 20×14 meters, and additional side towers for sound equipment and LED screens were built on the stairs of the Exchange building.

Many podiums and towers were erected along the Dvortsovaya Embankment and Birzhevoy Bridge to accommodate sound speakers and light equipment.

And on the Spit of Vasilievsky Island, special structures made of Prolyte aluminum trusses were installed to sound the fountain show in the water area of the Neva. These original sound towers were supplied by JSA (Prolyte’s official partner in Russia) specifically for the Euro-Show company.

The first city holiday took place in the city on Neva in remote 1969. And in 2006, this holiday acquired a new large-scale format with large technical production and new technologies.
