On July 23 and 24, 2005, the now annual rock festival “KRYLYA” ((in English – WINGS) took place in Moscow. This year, it returned to its traditional venue, the airfield in Tushino. Last year, it was forced to take place on the territory of the Luzhniki complex. The transfer was due to a tragic event – a terrorist attack that occurred in 2003 during the festival.
Since this year, the largest open-air musical event in the Russian capital has become a two-day event for the first time, which allowed the public to see twice as many favorite artists. And the main novelty of the festival was a special design of a large double stage installed by the JSA company.
This stage design innovation of the WINGS-2005 festival allowed to reduce the time between the musicians’ performances. The special design was developed by engineers of the JSA company in agreement with the organizers. The structure consisted of two equal stage areas, and between them there was a platform for the presenters and performances of some of the performers. Thanks to this, the concert program was practically uninterrupted, and the audience did not have to get bored during the breaks between performances. Plus sound towers on the sides and in the center, and wings for screens. The total length of the stage complex along the front was about 70 meters.
In addition, JSA installed other infrastructure structures: a FOH tower, sound towers, walls for video screens, a special pavilion for guests and the festival press. All structures were assembled from Layher systems, and Layher Cassette Roof structures were used for the stages. In addition, the company installed 300 meters of force safety barriers and 700 meters of fencing.
On average, about 80 thousand people visited the festival over the two days. Different musical groups performed on both stages in turns, and the main headliners were:
