On July 31, 1998, a charity concert of classical music “Stars of the World for Children” was held on the Cathedral Square of the Moscow Kremlin. This unusual and interesting event took place with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Government of Moscow, and was organized by the Non-Commercial Charitable Foundation “World of Art”. For this concert event, the JSA company, for the first time in the history of the Kremlin, built a Layher stage structure in the very center of the Russian capital.
The classical show program featured famous performers. The main star of the concert was the famous Spanish opera singer Montserrat Caballe and her daughter Montserrat Marti. In addition, the charity event was attended by the rising opera star, continuer of the traditions of Jose Carreras, Spanish tenor Javier Palacios and Elena Obraztsova’s daughter Elena Makarova (mezzo-soprano), as well as a combined choir of 300 people, which included the choir conducted by Viktor Popov and 150 young singers, disabled children from 79 regions of Russia. Musical accompaniment – the State Symphony Orchestra of Radio and Television conducted by Jose Collado. As part of the extensive program, a world premiere took place – the performance of a special work for the bells of the Moscow Kremlin by the legendary composer Vangelis.
The stage structure was carefully assembled between the Blagoveshchensky and Arkhangelsky churches. The stage design was made in the form of Russian icons on a red background, which corresponded to the location and purposes of the unique event. The use of Layher elements made it easy and simple to install tiers for a large children’s choir to perform at the back of the stage.
In addition to the musical premiere, an engineering and technical premiere also took place on the Kremlin’s Cathedral Square that day. Especially for this concert, the JSA company brought the universal modular roof system Layher Cassette Roof. This happened within the framework of the business strategy chosen by the founder and head of the company – to use only Layher products as the base material for installing temporary stage and other structures and to establish business partnership relations with the plant in Germany.
For the first installation of the roof, two specialists from the Layher Czech representative office arrived. Under their guidance, the JSA team quickly mastered the assembly skills and completed the work on time according to plan.
“This is the first set of such a roof Layher in Russia and we are very pleased that its first installation took place here, in a historical place, on the square of the Moscow Kremlin and it is especially important that the stage with this roof was installed by JSA for such a significant event. I am sure that such roofs will have a long-term and wide use in the company’s staging…” – this is how Alexander Strizhak, General Director of JSA, commented on this “premiere”.
