NOKIA SNOWBOARD FIS WORLD CUP 2007. STAGE OF BIG AIR COMPETITION IN MOSCOW

On February 9 and 10, in Moscow, at Vorobyovy Gory (Sparrow Hills), the Nokia Snowboard FIS World Cup 2007 held the Big Air competition. This sports event brought together the strongest athletes – winners and prize-winners of the Olympic Games, world, and European champions. The unique temporary ramp (trampoline) for the competition was specifically installed by JSA Stage Company in the area near the main building of Moscow University.

The giant design of the “Steel Mountain” with a height of 30m and a length of about 100 meters was designed by JSA engineers for this place, taking into account the peculiarities of the landscape and rules for Big Air from FIS. The construction of the slide ramp (trampoline) was mounted from the universal and reliable metal structures of the Layher Allround System (Germany). An over 250 tons springboard was built only for this event, then it was dismantled.

JSA was responsible for the technical support of the event venue and, in addition to the springboard, installed six towers with a height of 35 m near the launch pad, at the beginning of the descent zone, and near the ski jumping zone. The necessary facilities for the show were also erected, including the installation of a temporary fence to enclose the territory of the event, barriers, and a platform for the Hospitality Tent.

This unusual large-scale and bright event, accompanied by a light show, fireworks, and a concert, attracted a lot of fans of this extreme sport and many simple spectators.
