At the beginning of October 2007, a large private gala event took place on the territory of the Konstantinovsky Palace near St. Petersburg, where JSA installed a special pavilion in the regular park of the recently restored Palace complex on the shore of the Gulf of Finland in the Baltic Sea. It was a temporary structure for a universal, multifunctional concert hall for high-status guests.
A special place was chosen for the installation of the Grand Concert Hall, which had a frontal view of the canal stretching into the distance to the majestic main building of the Constantine Palace. The back side of the building faced the seashore. During the project preparation, JSA specialists came to inspect the site and check the stability of the land. It was as part of a delegation together with representatives of the state construction agency. As a result, all the necessary solutions were found, allowing the responsible persons to give permission for the installation of the temporary Layher structure.
The design of the temporary hall was developed by JSA engineers based on elements of the Layher Allround Scaffolding system and the Layher Cassette Roof.
The installing the structure began three weeks before the event due to the operating schedule of the Konstantinovsky Palace, complex logistics, and the importance of preparing all technical equipment (lighting, sound equipment, screens, decorations, rigging, special design, stage machinery, ice rink, pyrotechnics and special effects and much more). The construction of the structure, especially in terms of installing the roof, which was carried out using cranes, required additional care and precision in the execution of the work.
The additional rooms (also made from Layher elements) were installed on the sides of the pavilion to accommodate service personnel, catering workers, technicians involved during the event, artists performing and store show equipment.
Finally, everything was installed on time, and the event was successful.
JSA gained another experience in installing temporary event spaces under the roof with an original individual arrangement of the event infrastructure. Such quickly erected structures provide great creative opportunities for event organizers and directors and also allow finding interesting solutions for technical support.
For example, in this case, one end side of the structure had sliding walls with screens. The opposite side adjoined a small summer house, part of the architectural ensemble of the park. The guests of the event drove up to this house, where they were met at the reception, and then they went to the hall to watch the performances, which was completely unexpected for them since they had not had the opportunity to see a large temporary structure before that. The route of luxury cars bringing them passed along the road among the bushes and trees from the entrance gate along the internal bypass road directly to the doors of the summer house, on the site from where a view of the Baltic Sea opened up. Further, according to the script, at some point in the show, the wall with the screens in front of them began to move apart into two halves, and a beautiful view of the park, a straight line of the canal leading to the building of the Constantine Palace, opened up before the audience.
