On July 4, 2007, the southern city of Russia – Sochi, located between the Caucasus Mountains and the Black Sea, was elected as the capital of the XXII Winter Olympic Games by members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the 119th session in Guatemala.

FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THE RED SQUARE. ICE RINK BY GUM IN THE CENTER OF MOSCOW

In the 2006-2007 winter season, a public ice skating rink was opened on Red Square in the center of Moscow for the first time in history as a popular entertainment option for city residents and guests of the capital. The project was organized by the GUM Shopping Center, the main historical building that stands directly opposite the Kremlin. This leisure facility became the largest in Europe, with a total building area of almost 3,000 square meters, including an ice arena, cafes, retail premises, and a rental and service center.

NOKIA SNOWBOARD FIS WORLD CUP 2007. STAGE OF BIG AIR COMPETITION IN MOSCOW

On February 9 and 10, in Moscow, at Vorobyovy Gory (Sparrow Hills), the Nokia Snowboard FIS World Cup 2007 held the Big Air competition. This sports event brought together the strongest athletes – winners and prize-winners of the Olympic Games, world, and European champions. The unique temporary ramp (trampoline) for the competition was specifically installed by JSA Stage Company in the area near the main building of Moscow University.
